Dear Perfect Parent,

I have a few things I’d like to share with you today. I want to commend your efforts at being the perfect parent, because it’s not somethings we all aspire to be in life.You believe in the depths of your being that you are doing everything exactly right, and that you have a thing or two you can teach the rest of us.

You are decidedly the best example about breastfeeding or formula feeding, when to start your child on solid food, when to send your child to preschool and kinergarten. Oh! Let’s not forget about extra activities like soccer, dance, music lessons, and swimming. You most assuredly make time for your child to do it all. God forbid a parent choose themselves over their child wants.

Do you sense my sarcasm yet? I hope so, and I hope you’ll join me in doing the following…

THE BRIEF

Quite a cat!

Lots to do today and I want to start early so I will be brief.

First a tiny scream of frustration: I am thinking of deleting one of my social media streams lest I discover a war being declared over a twitter feed. Or something else completely outrageous. The news reels from one thing to the next making us all seasick from the twisting barrage of hyperbole.  Twitter has become a force to be reckoned with. How did that happen? And I want to stop reading the news app. But if we stop bearing witness does that make us safer? Is knowing what people are saying in tiny fifteen-second bites actually helping make us safer – keeping us informed. Must I be informed  of all this to be a responsible citizen of the world?

I have deleted from this post more than I have allowed. But you all know me well…

1. When we don’t accept an undesired event, it becomes anger;

2. When we don’t accept uncertainty, it becomes fear;

3. When we don’t accept bad behavior of others towards us, it becomes
hatred; when we accept it, it becomes forgiveness.

4. When we don’t accept success of others, it becomes jealousy;
when we accept it, it becomes inspiration.

Surrender

1. When we are wrong and we surrender, it means we are
honest.

2. When we are in doubt and we surrender, it means we are
wise.

3. When we are right and we surrender, it means we value
our relations.
