Day 1135: Calming an overactive brain

The Year(s) of Living Non-Judgmentally

Yesterday, my overactive brain noticed a marketing pamphlet that came in the mail:

Calming an overactive brain is something I’m working on, as I prepare to try out for “The Voice” in less than two weeks.

Apparently, my overactive brain has been an issue in my vocal performances for many years, as shown here in a decades-old goal-setting sheet from the Boston Voice Workshop:

My overactive brain wishes to direct your brain to the fifth item on that list, which says “mental.”

Here’s what I know about calming an overactive brain:

  • Take a deep, cleansing breath.
  • Be in the moment.
  • Let go of fears about consequences.
  • Let go of unhelpful memories from the past.
  • Appreciate being alive.
  • Be aware of love.
  • Know you are worthy.
  • Trust your own wisdom.
  • Follow your heart.
  • Express yourself freely.

My calmer brain realizes this, now:

I’ll Do My Best

DoubleU = W

I was only ten when you were taken

ripped away with no warning

there was no chance, no time

to get to know who you were

or to emulate your ways

.

you were my idol, my hero

everything I thought

I wanted to be was

wrapped up in you

.

without you, I’ve had to make do

and grow however I could

I had lost my pattern

so I did the best I could

.

well…here I am all grown up

often I wonder if I’m anything like you

either way, I hope I did you proud

and I hope I turned into someone

that you would like to know

I miss you, Big Brother

I’ll do my best for you

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Barataria - The work of Erik Hare

A celebration of Black History Month

Our third grade class filed under the concrete breezeways that loosely connected the classrooms of Coral Reef Elementary, past the Seagrape tree at the end of the open courtyard, and into the big cafeteria.  It was the only space large enough to hold all the energy of so many kids, cooled only by tall jalousie windows that caught the breezes off Biscayne Bay.  The air inside was heavy and anxious, and just like nearly everything in Florida it could be oppressive if you let it get to you.  But we kids just took it in and made it exciting.  This was our music class, the time when we could bubble our energy in a new song taught to us on the tired piano by Mr. Michaels.

Lift every voice and sing, till earth and Heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of liberty;

Playlist: I´m the sexiest!

Chape Fitness

Hello, dears 🙂

It´s February. For those beginners who have survived their first month in the gym: CONGRATS!!!

I´ve visited some gyms last month with my 60kg body, sleeveless and shorts 🙂

I appreciated the gym junkie´s glances while they were doing… well, I don´t know really what they were doing, and they didn´t pay me to correct them 😀

To all the regular gym users/complainers about beginners: be kind. It´s your choice!

I want to be kind, and I am if you deserve it. In the other hand, I understand that high levels of testosterone or pre-workouts can affect your mood. It´s their problem, not mine.

My dear beginners, let´s rule the gym with a powerful thought: I´M THE SEXIEST!sensation

One hour of good vibes… the world is plenty of testosterone 🙂

My dear beginners, this month let´s melt down those bodybuilders. You only need one happy though, one powerful idea:…

Younique Moodstruck Addiction Palette 1

Merry Christmas everyone!

I love shadow palettes that include both matte and shimmery shades and I have been loving warm tones on my eyes recently. This review is on the palette 1.

Starting off with the packaging; I like that the top flap has a magnet so it keeps it shut. There is also a fairly large clear mirror on the inside. The palette is slightly thick but it isn’t bothersome to me. Each shadow pan is very large compared to other palettes.

I love how buttery and smooth they are; they aren’t the least bit powdery. Both the matte and shimmery shades are very pigmented. The shimmery shades have very fine glitter in them but are not chunky at all. There is also no fall out on any of the shades.

Younique Moodstruck Addiction Palette 1

This palette has 3 matte shades (1,4&6 from the left) and 4 shimmery/glittery shades. The first shade on…
