The Falling Thoughts

My grandmother always told me

“don’t cry for the sun after sunset. With tears in your eyes you will not be able to enjoy the beauty of the moon and stars.
Lately, I have seen many of my friends crying over their breakups; loosing someone you love is hard and its even harder to see him or her with someone else.
We need to remember, that we can’t loose someone we never had. Only one thing is permanent in this world and that is “change”. Truly, it’s better to accept the change and be part of the change. When I was growing up my grandfather advised me in a funny way, he said Yaz, don’t you ever worry if you ever miss the girl or the bus because the next one is on its way.

During the time Prophet Noah was building his arc, Noah’s son asked, is this…

Having a hard time finding a good nude lipstick? Here are my favourites AND they are all under $10!

$8.99 on the Milani website. Everyone is jumping on the liquid lipstick bandwagon, along with Milani. Unlike a lot of drugstore liquid lipstick, this is actually a product worth your money! True to is claims it is transfer resistant and long wearing. On me this colour is a perfect mix of peach and pink.

$9.95 on the Annebelle website. This colour on me is a beigey pink.

$6.00 on the Colourpop website. I also enjoy this liquid lipstick, but a word of warning it is very drying which can drive a lot of people crazy. For me I like to wear it for shorter periods of time to avoid drying out my…

Are you ready for this?

Made only with 5 tablespoons each of flour and Nutella, plus 1 large egg, every last bit of these mini cupcakes is life changing.

Suddenly, you question your self-control and self-respect: Can you really eat all 9 1 oz cups in one sitting? Are you ready to give up a comfy spot in bed and stand up just to munch on these chocolate dreams? Will you trade the commitment you made when you already brushed your teeth for the night?

Just when you think you have seen it all, these gorgeous Nutella mini cupcakes, graced with the ichor of the Gods, come along and weaken you in the knees, creating a craving straight from the pits of hell.

The deliciousness in each piece is fatal. This is the desolation of every single dieting thought you ever have. Don’t believe me? Have a go.

Tuesday’s Brownie Meeting – will my daughter behave?

Kevin Hellriegel's Blog of Worthless Advice

I forgot to talk about my recent Brownie Meeting this past Tuesday evening. As you may remember, my daughter is supposedly the loud, insubordinate, back talking, rebel of the Brownie Troop. She already has a two page police blotter on her behavior written up by Troop Leader J. You can read the letter here at this blog post

Before this meeting, I had a talk with my daughter about her behavior. As we were driving to the meeting, I reminded her and her friend to be on their best behavior during the meeting. She did express her concerns to me that she felt Troop Leader J doesn’t like her. I told her that you just need to kill her with kindness. If someone wants to find every possible thing wrong, they will. They are looking for you to mess up. Instead, you must be sweet, kind, and polite.

I told…

Don’t Just Be Aware Of Breast Cancer!

Looking Joli Good

Most people know that October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” While most are “aware of breast cancer”, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages.  Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancer). Millions of women are surviving the disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatment.

As you may remember, I recently started a new job at the Hospital.  I’m working in an Out Patient Infusion Center.  We give a lot of different medications, and a lot of chemotherapy.  In just the few weeks that I have been working, I have seen so many cases of advanced cancer. The earlier the cancer is found, the better the prognosis!

If you think that you can’t afford to get tests done, in the USA, coverage of mammograms for breast…

360 Degrees of Power Plant Grief Counselling

Power Plant Men

The first time I sat through a Performance Review was with my mentor Larry Riley when I was on Labor Crew.  On a scale of 1000 I was somewhere around 850.  He said that this was the highest he had ever rated anyone so I should be proud, and I was.  As I walked out of the room and returned to work, I suddenly felt depressed.  I thought this was a strange response after just being told I was Larry’s “Star Pupil”.

Larry Riley 20 years after I first met him. He has a much newer hardhat in this picture Larry Riley 16 years after my first performance review

Throughout the years, the Performance Review process changed a number of times.  The scale was changed to 1 to 10, then 1 to 5, then the numbers were taken away altogether and replaced with, Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, and Fails to Meet Expectations.

The different scales all meant the same thing, and that was that if someone was applying…
